Champion Tree – Kwa’Zidenge Forest
The Champion Tree project, a first of its kind in Africa, was launched in 2004. The purpose of the project, championed by the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, is to pro-actively identify and protect trees of national importance due to their remarkable size, age, or aesthetic, culture, historic or tourism status, Aurecon, as proudly South African company, in support of this project also wants to ensure that trees of importance to the country’s heritage not lost but conserved for future generations. The company has therefore, adopted all the Champion Trees of South Africa in association with the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.
